Step 1: Configure your firewall - either Windows XP firewall / ZoneAlarm or other firewall
You must create a rule to allow traffic in and out on two ports for Shoutcast to be able to get listener connections and to stream out to listeners
Go to your admin screen for your firewall and create an exception for 'shoutcast' and allow port 8000 (if this is what you chose for shoutcast to use) and 8001.
Shoutcast needs both ports to be opened in order to allow 2 way traffic between listeners and the server.
For XP Firewall: Go to Control Panels >> Security Center >> Go to Firewall
Click the 'Exceptions' tab in the Firewall Control Panel
Click 'add program' button and choose SC_SERVE.EXE from Program Files Shoutcast

Step 2: Configure your router to allow traffic through to your radio station pc
Find your router on this page and set up Port Forwarding for the ports you specified in your sc_serv.ini configuration. (ex: 8000 and 8001)
Port Forwarding is a simple configuration that allows outside traffic to be able to be routed to a specific PC on your local network. If you have 5 computers on your home
network - this tells the router to send the Shoutcast requests to your streaming radio station pc.
This is a sometimes confusing step - remember you need to open TWO PORTS for Shoutcast (8000,8001) or if you chose to stream on port 8010 you also have to open 8011.
